Design Objective
Design an accessible weather protective shape-fitting bike cover that is compatible with a wide range of road bikes. Both the bike and the cover should be mountable to the vehicle bike rack.
Sketch Explorations
Paper Mock-Up Excercise
The rapid prototype helped to discover the general shape and the cut and sew pattern of the bike cover.
Low Fidelity Fabric Prototype
After the discovery of the paper mock-up, I worked with low-cost grey fabric to understand how the fabric might behave with the bike.
From the grey fabric model, we discovered that in order to consider various sizes of the mountain bike, the cover requires an additional system that can shrink and expand the size of the model.
Explorations of Cord System
Explored the implementation of cords in certain areas of the cover to accommodate the size variability of the bikes.
